I have committed two hours each evening from 8PM-10PM CST to advancing my work and reclaiming my peace.
Starting tonight, I will sit in an open Zoom room for two hours. I have committed myself to 31 days in the month of July. My idea is to create a space where people like me reclaim their time. Without an anchor, Zoom, my mind and body would find every reason in the world to do something else other than sitting still, focused in the moment on what is most important in my life.
I have created this sadhana - intentional practice - to take back my power; in response to circumstances beyond my control. I choose this space over allowing external others to control my thoughts, my feelings and my life.
It was inspired by my experience of Gahmya Drummond’s workshop a few years ago (https://www.evolvedteacher.com/) where we gathered specifically for the purpose of writing for two hours each night.
My idea is inspired by coworking spaces like WeWork. My idea is inspired by an overwhelmingly oppressive sense of not having enough time: commitments and necessary tasks appear to compete with what I enjoy and would prefer to do.
I am choosing me. I am choosing us. I believe that there is power in sitting in community as we return focus on ourselves and our lives and our priorities.
In reality, you provide the desk, coffee, snacks and whatever else you need to get your thing done with an intentional community. I am committed to showing up even if I am the only person in the room.
The power is in the moment and I am providing an opportunity for people to take back their time, attention and their power if they are willing.
There will be no agenda. No Q &A. No consulting, brainstorming on your problems, projects or organizational challenges. I will not be entertaining anyone. Take responsibility for your own life, joy, and enlightenment.
It costs $1 each day.
When we exceed capacity of 100 participants, I encourage you to sit for two hours, wherever you are in the world, knowing that you are still sitting in community.
No credits. No refunds. No friends and family discount. This modest amount of money represents a commitment and reciprocal relationship in which both parties give something and exchange energy. Travelers pay as you go. The toll and cost of entry is $1. If that seems unreasonable, this isn’t for you. And that’s okay.
